Services Overview

Home Inspection

Bill’s extensive technical and practical background uniquely qualify him to produce knowledgeable, in-depth inspections. The report is produced and provided to the client and their realtor at the time of the inspection. The computer report is easy to understand, with extensive use of photographs to document the areas of concern. The written report and photographs are presented in a three ring binder with extensive supplementary information, both about the defects and about how to maintain the property in optimum condition. The report can also be sent electronically to interested parties. Sample Report, 1.7MB PDF download.

Commercial Property Inspections

Commercial inspections are tailored to the client’s needs and wishes. They can range from verbal walk-throughs to detailed, documented inspections with a technical review of specified items. Please call for a discussion of your needs.

Expert Witness

Bill’s educational and practical background qualify him to serve as an expert witness in a number of types of legal construction and inspection matters. He has testified in court and worked with a number of attorneys on different matters across the state.

Construction Defect Consultation

Because all building is “hand made” it is imperfect. It is sometimes very difficult for a layman to know when a construction defect is significant or when it is the industry norm. Homeowners do not have to accept the word of the builder’s warranty manager that “they are all like that,” or “nothing can be done.” A clearly written report from an expert might be enough to get needed corrections made, or it can provide needed information when consulting with an attorney.

Construction Dispute Mediation

Things can change dramatically between the time a construction contract is signed and the time the work is done. The contract scope of work is often vague and the specifications are commonly non-existent. Legal action is an option, but often it is cheaper, faster, and fairer to try to mediate the dispute.

Construction Oversight

When you are buying a home that has yet to be built, whether it is custom or a production model, how can you be sure the plans are being followed? Is the house being built in accordance with best building practices? The municipal inspections are limited in scope. Consider hiring an expert to advise you on the rough frame and the final inspections. The last best time to resolve any buyer concerns is at construction completion, before the builder has received his final payment. Another key inspection time is just prior to the end of the initial warranty period, normally 12 months after acceptance.
